John Cargill: Guitar Teacher

John Cargill is a professional and experienced session musician based in Edinburgh, Scotland.

John regularly tours globally as a live session player and has performed for sold out tours across the US/Canada and Europe, supporting acts such as Lewis Capaldi and Yungblud with Glasgow band Saint Phnx. When not on tour, John also currently plays an average of 100 weddings and corporate events throughout the year; both as part of the Music For Scotland band Sugar Honey, a modern upbeat covers band, and through solo classical guitar performances.

Whilst his background is based around touring and obtaining an Honours Degree with popular/rock music, John has studied Jazz to a high level at St Andrews University and achieved distinction in Grade 8 Classical guitar – his lessons will be tailored to suit the students needs and interests regardless of genre. He is also currently studying a Masters degree at Edinburgh Napier University with a focus on Guitar Tuition.

Over the last 10  years John has taught students from beginner level right up to grade 8 and beyond. His lessons are well balanced with a focus on three areas – technical ability, song studies and improvisational skills.

John has had the privilege of learning from some great tutors over the years, gaining lots of experience from touring in bands all over the world and playing music as a full time job – John is passionate about passing this knowledge on!

John is highly sought after, both as a teacher and a performer due to his diverse stylistic abilities and easy to work with approach to any given situation.
