David Burns: Drum Teacher
David Burns is a freelance musician based in Edinburgh. Throughout his career he has developed a thorough understanding of the nuances of style and feel and is experienced in a range of genres such as Funk, Pop, Jazz and Rock. An interest in composition permeates his musicianship and contributes to his capacity to complement the styles of those he plays with.
Currently an active Musician in the live music scene throughout Edinburgh and Glasgow, David is a member of multiple band outfits.These include: The Amber Lights function band, performing at venues across the country and on a bi-weekly residency at Stramash in Edinburgh. Terrace court, an R&B/ Pop outfit who have supported Joseph in the Revolver Hotel in Glasgow and played venues such as G2 and King Tuts. Jimi, a 7 piece funk band who recently played at an international Jazz festival in Prague. David is also continuing to work with his collaborator Pete Wall in both Pete’s solo artist career and their Hydroponics acoustic Folk project. Additionally David has played percussion in a variety of concert bands which have Performed at the royal concert hall in Glasgow and Perth. In the studio David can be heard on recent music releases by Barbe Rousse, Pete Wall and OceanCode.
Academically David has achieved a BA Hons degree in popular music at Edinburgh Napier University.Having studied instrumental teaching as part of his degree, David is able to cater to the learning styles of each individual. With a friendly and supportive approach, David aims to create a comfortable and engaging learning environment.
